Portico®

Picture a personal computer system capable of running Microsoft® Windows® XP, Home or Pro, and guaranteed to run the most frequently used, commercially available adaptive software products, like JAWS® for Windows, Window-Eyes, ZoomText® and MAGic®. An attached, high resolution display for this new device is optional, but connection to any SVGA display is only a keystroke away.

Very Connected

With three USB ports, an integrated modem, a 100 megabit Ethernet port, a PCMCIA card bus adapter and a Secure Digital/Memory Stick flash slot, you can connect to just about anything, anywhere at any time. Jacks for stereo headphones or speakers and a microphone are also included in addition to the built-in speaker and microphone.

Portico Means Business

This business-capable machine is powered by Intel® Centrino® technology; using battery power in small trickles, but with plenty of gas to run optional voice dictation software while listening to your MP3 collection. Naturally, all the current Microsoft productivity products run with ease and speed.

Connected, Yet Untethered

You can burst through Web sites at 100 megabit speeds for hours on a single charge with Portico's wireless Ethernet adapter. This power-user's dream is about as wide and long a standard sheet of paper, less than one inch thick and weighs less than a pound without the screen. There are light notebooks out there, but none are designed like the Portico. Some folks offer an off-the-shelf notebook that has had the screen removed to increase portability and reduce power consumption. The trouble is where to find support after the sale. We are more than partners with ASUS. We designed the Portico, we manufacture the Portico, and we provide a full warranty for the Portico.

The Portico power system was custom designed to extend battery life. There is proprietary circuitry inside each Portico and each Portico battery. The BIOS of the Portico has been configured to ensure optimal compatibility between the battery, power circuit and operating system. In addition to switching from LCD to desktop display, the user may easily, with one keystroke, turn off the power to the backlight of the Portico display to further reduce power consumption when the display is not needed. Additionally, the user may turn off the Portico glidepoint mouse with a single keystroke to ensure that the mouse doesn't interfere with non-visual access technology, like screen readers. There is no need to enter BIOS and the Portico remembers which state the mouse was in before shutdown so you don't have to remember to switch it on or off each time you boot.
